The Hospital of Central Connecticut Opens New Cardiac Rehabilitation Space

The Hospital of Central Connecticut Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has opened a new rehabilitation space on its New Britain campus.

The 3,120-square-foot facility provides the latest equipment to aid in the treatment and recovery of cardiac patients. The center provides phase II telemetry monitored exercise to patients who have been treated for myocardial infarction, angioplasty, coronary artery bypass graph surgery, valve replacement or repair, heart transplant, and systolic congestive heart failure.

All of the equipment in the center is brand new, including treadmills, recumbent steppers, stationary bikes, and elliptical trainers. Patients also have use of an arm ergometer, also known as an arm cycle, and a rowing machine. The facility has a full complement of weight training equipment. With several pieces of seated cardiovascular equipment, the center can accommodate patients along a broad spectrum of needs and abilities.

“We are pleased to provide advanced cardiac equipment in a spacious, bright and welcoming space,” said Gary Havican, president of The Hospital of Central Connecticut and MidState Medical Center. “Combined with the knowledge and compassion of our expert staff, the stage is set for our patients to reach their full cardiac potential.”

The new space is located in close proximity to the hospital entrance and parking garage for patient ease and convenience.

Phase II cardiac rehab is exclusively available for patients with recent cardiac events typically covered by insurance. Patients must be referred to the program by a physician, typically a cardiologist.
