The human hand has 27 bones that move in almost as many joints, making it one of the most flexible parts of the body. Such small bones and joints – and the amount of tasks we rely upon our hands to perform – also result in many aches, strains and breaks.
If you are experiencing numbness in one or both hands, Dr. Chris McCarthy, a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with the Hartford Healthcare Bone & Joint Institute, might have some relief for you.
Dr. McCarthy will offer the free talk called “Are Your Hands Numb?” on Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 5:30-7 p.m., at Gateway Medical Park, 305 Western Blvd., Suite C, in Glastonbury.
The talk will address:
- Possible causes for hand and arm numbness, including carpal tunnel, arthritis and other conditions.
- Treatment options and associated recovery times.
- When to consider surgery.
The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session with Dr. McCarthy.
