The Hartford HealthCare Ayer Neuroscience Institute at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) recently welcomed Dr. Jeffrey Lahrmann at the Hungerford Center, Suite Three, 780 Litchfield Street, Torrington, CT.
Dr. Lahrmann specializes in movement disorders, with areas of interest that include deep brain stimulation, essential tremors, Parkinson’s Disease and gait ataxia. He is now accepting new patients Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and will continue to practice at the Hartford HealthCare Medical Group Movement Disorders Center in Vernon.

Dr. Lahrmann received his medical degree from St. George’s University, Granada, West Indies, and conducted his residency in neurology at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He also completed an internship in Internal Medicine at St. John’s Hospital and Medical Center in Grosse Pointe, Mich., and a fellowship in movement disorders at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington.
The practice has greatly increased access to neurology services and is now staffed by neurologists Dr. Hugh Cahill, Dr. Lucas Meira-Benchaya, Dr. Sarah Meira-Benchaya, Dr. Nabi Chowdury and Physician Assistant Sabra Becker. Dr. Chowdhury also accepts patients one day a week at the new CHH Specialty Care office located at 76 Watertown Road, Thomaston.
The Neuroscience practice offers neurological evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system. The neurologists employ sophisticated technology, to diagnose and treat conditions including movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, headache, stroke, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, peripheral neuropathy and others.
Throughout Hartford HealthCare, the Ayer Neuroscience Institute has several programs including Movement Disorders, Hearing and Balance, Memory Care, Neuro-Oncology, Headache, Sleep Disorders, Spine, Neurosurgery, Pain Management and Neuromuscular Disorders.
