New Physical Medicine Practice Opens in Torrington, Litchfield


The Hartford HealthCare Medical Group and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital have welcomed Dr. David E. Gutierrez, a pain physiatrist who will be heading up a new Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation practice with locations in Torrington and Litchfield.

“I am very excited to begin seeing patients in the beautiful Northwest Corner. Our practice is committed to helping them get back to doing the things they love and living a healthy and active lifestyle,” said Dr. Gutierrez.

Dr. Gutierrez diagnoses and treats a variety of pain-related issues and symptoms, including neck, back and chronic musculoskeletal pain, osteoarthritis, nonoperative spine and peripheral joint candidates lumbar, thoracic, cervical spondylosis, spinal stenosis and radiculopathies, failed back syndrome, peripheral nerve pain and neuropathies.

The practice will be accepting patients at a new office in the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Medical Office Building at 538 Litchfield St., Suite 103, in Torrington and one day a week at Hartford HealthCare Primary Care Litchfield, 7 Village Green Drive in Litchfield.

Dr. Gutierrez has a medical degree from Ross University, West Indies, and is board certified in Physical Medicine/Rehabilitation and Pain Management. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, N.Y., an Internship at Mount Sinai Hospital, Queens, N.Y., and a fellowship in Pain Medicine, University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He has also served as an assistant professor at the Yale School of Medicine Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation.

His areas of interest and expertise include interventional pain including injection therapy, nerve blocks, kyphoplasty, radiofrequency ablation, MSK Ultrasound, Neuromodulation, and Spinal Cord and Peripheral Nerve Stimulation.
