CHH Auxiliary March Artist of the Month Now Showing

The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Auxiliary is featuring the photography of James F. Roche, Jr., now through early April in the hospital’s main lobby hallway at 540 Litchfield St. in Torrington. The public is invited to view and buy the works through the Charlotte Gift Shop as part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing Artist of the Month program. Proceeds from sales of the artwork support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

James F. Roche Jr. is a local photographer who has lived in Connecticut his entire life. James appreciates “life’s simple beauty” and has tried to capture those types of images, starting with drawing and painting, then film and digital photography. James tries to capture images of the world around him, no matter how insignificant they may seem, and no matter what the subject may be. Many photos are a “picture within a picture” where a small portion of a photo is zoomed into making another image entirely.

The Auxiliary’s “Artist of the Month” program has been featuring paintings, photographs, and artwork each month from local artists for over 25 years. Their over 200 member supporters assist in raising money for the hospital through dues, donations, volunteering at the gift shop, and a variety of events including an annual fashion show.

The Gift Shop is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Call 860.496.6666 for select weekend hours.
