The Hartford HealthCare Bone & Joint Institute at Hartford Hospital is the first hospital in Connecticut and New England to be awarded The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for all four orthopedic certifications recognized by the organization.
The certifications include:
- Advanced Hip & Knee Replacement.
- Core Total Shoulder Replacement.
- Advanced Spine.
- Core Hip Fracture.
The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.
The Bone & Joint Institute, which underwent rigorous onsite reviews, was evaluated on stringent standards for quality, program management, clinical protocols and much more. The certifications, offered in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, focus on the pre-surgical consultation, complexity of cases, hospitalization, rehabilitation activities and follow-up visits with the orthopedic surgeon.
The Advanced Spine certification was awarded in partnership with the Hartford HealthCare Ayer Neuroscience Institute. The two institutes work collaboratively to ensure patients have access to the most highly skilled surgeons, with the latest technology, working together as a team to treat even the most complex spine cases.
“I am incredibly proud of the exceptional work our team has accomplished, which is validated at the highest level by The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval,” said John Grady-Benson, MD, physician-in chief of the Hartford HealthCare Bone & Joint Institute. “Everyone at the Bone & Joint Institute has worked tirelessly to ensure that every patient receives the best care, in the right place, at the right time. I am grateful for the dedication and innovative thinking of our colleagues.”
“The Bone & Joint Institute is a critical component in providing orthopedic care in Connecticut and beyond,” said Bimal Patel, president of Hartford Hospital and senior vice president of Hartford HealthCare. “These certifications demonstrate to our patients that this is a truly exceptional place to seek specialized orthopedic care in a safe, high-quality environment.”
