Dr Bhargava is very compassionate. He's also a great listener. We discuss what I'm dealing with and various options I can try. He's the first neurologist that has actually given choices in how I want to proceed with my care.

I patiently waited 3 months for my appointment, just to be called a week prior to the appointment date and told that they had scheduled me to see the doctor on a day he doesn’t work and that I would now have to wait an additional 3 months to be seen. I cancelled the appointment and was seen somewhere else in 3 days time.

I’ve been having really bad migraines the past few years, started back in 2022. Back in 2022, I hit my head bad, had a concussion that I never went to the hospital for, went to class the next day and felt horrible but I was able to manage it. Then the headaches started and I thought it was just that, headaches. Then in 2023, at work I had an incident where I hit my head twice on the floor, bruised up pretty bad, blacked out, and I don’t remember much from that night. Headaches got worse where I was not sensitive to light, sound, and smells. Not to the point where I was vomiting but to the point where I’d wear sunglasses at light cause the street lights and car lights were too much. Then, in 2024, I got Lasik. I know that can cause migraines, I didn’t think much of it. Still had bad headaches and migraines, still haven’t gone to the hospital and tried to self medicate which worked as much as it could. Last year, I hit my head helping some guys with one of those John Deere riding lawn mowers. The seat hit the top of my head HARD. No black outs, no vomiting, just nausea and a headache. That night I went to work and I lived less than 5 minutes from my job. I couldn’t remember how to get home and a coworker had to help me get home. I slept it off thinking it was me being sleep deprived as I work nights. Now, I have migraines everyday, I’ve gone days with them and I’m vomiting, have vocal, auditory, and sensory/motor deficits. I see black spots, vomit, I get numbness on my left arm and hand, sometimes down my legs but more my hands, I have neck pain all the time, ears ring like crazy, and so much more symptoms that I told the Dr about. He specifically told me that because I am a “female in your mid twenties who has a regular menstrual cycle, this is normal.” I’m sorry, when did painful migraines that make me call out of work, migraines that affect my vision, my hearing, and my motor functions as well as the feeling in my extremities, migraines that have made me lose so much weight from the vomiting, migraines that make me cry, when was that “part of being a woman?” I didn’t argue with him, I gave him every detail, how my day to day life goes, what I do for work and the times I get to sleep, how I eat, my medical history, I told that man everything just for him to tell me “it’s cause you’re a woman.” I asked if there’s a way I can still get a scan, he told me he “wasn’t concerned with scans.” He recorded everything on his phone (which was fine as he disclosed to me prior to me explaining everything) and he wasn’t concerned with anything I told him. So, this was my first attempt at a neurologist facility for my migraines, I don’t think I’ll be back. He prescribed me medication that when I did take it, put me into SVT as I have history of heart and blood pressure problems. I told him, he still prescribed it and said to “give it a try anyways.” It’s put me into SVT and makes me drowsy knowing I drive for a living overnights. I take it on my days off, sometimes it helps but I have to take Zofran with the Rizatriptan as it makes me incredibly nauseous. He prescribed Qulipta as well. I don’t think I’ll be back to see him, I’d rather get a female doctor that can ACTUALLY help me with my migraines without telling me “it’s because you’re a woman who is in your mid twenties.”
