Our first visit yesterday. Exactly what we hoped for. Dr. Bortan ls good humored, chatty, casual (dressed in sweater and shorts, not an MD white coat), asked lots of questions, got Mom talking, did physical on-the-spot testing (balance, rising from seat, strength, walking in hall), asked questions about medication and eating — covered a lot of ground in an hour. She encouraged Mom to call with questions any time. Started process to set up permissions allowing selected family members to make contact with her. Set date for a follow-up meeting four months out. Encouraged Mom to set up Physical Therapist routine, increase nourishment. Adjusted medication prescriptions, frequency and timing.

Dr Bortan is one in a million. I’m joining the long list of patients that have experienced the compassionate and knowledgeable care that she brings to every visit. She may have also saved my life by finding a brain aneurysm this past Spring when looking for something else! Knowing she was giving me the best care possible was very comforting as I went through the process of the prep and then brain surgery. At 72, I have had many serious injuries and medical conditions. No physician has made a bigger impression on me than Dr Bortan.
