Bio

Dr. Matmati, a board certified Neurologist and Vascular Neurologist, is the Chair of Neurology at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and the Stroke Program Director. She specializes in the care of patients with stroke, TIA, intracranial hemorrhages, and related vascular disorders of the nervous system. She has a special interest in optimizing stroke systems of care, and in improving the transition of care from the hospital to home. She serves as the co-chair of the Stroke Council for Hartford Healthcare’s Ayer Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Matmati earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completedher residency in Neurology at Columbia University, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and completed a fellowship in Vascular Neurology at Stony Brook Hospital. Dr. Matmati holds a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Frank H. Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University. Current research activity includes serving as the site-PI for the ARCADIA study and the OCEANIC-STROKE study. In addition to expanding St. Vincent’s participation in multi-center stroke trials, Dr. Matmati is interested in local quality improvement research to improve outcomes for stroke patients.
