Each transgender patient has a unique journey, and some might choose to embrace their gender through surgery.

Partnering with specialists from the Hartford HealthCare Tallwood Urology & Kidney Institute allows us to offer the following services:

• Orchiectomy, a simple procedure to remove the testicles and spermatic cords in a transfeminine patient. The procedure takes approximately an hour, with the surgeon making a vertical incision in the middle of the scrotum. Scrotal skin is not generally removed. Patients typically go home the same day.

• Sperm preservation. Patients undergoing transition might want to maintain their ability to have biological children. Our team reviews all options, including the need to hold hormonal treatments for the best results.
