Backus Hospital
VISITORS
- General visiting hours: 10am to 8pm daily
The following restrictions will be followed by area:
- Any visitor under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
- Inpatient Hospital: Two visitors per patient during visiting hours. If you are visiting a patient on an inpatient unit, you will be required to enter through the Main Entrance. Please use Parking Lot 1 and enter the Main Entrance of the hospital.
- Emergency Department: Two visitors can remain with the patient throughout their Emergency Department visit.
- Surgical Services: One visitor per patient pre-procedure in pre-op. During the patient’s procedure, you are encouraged to wait off campus and you will be called when the procedure is completed. In the Post-Anesthesia area, one visitor is permitted at a time. Please use the Entrance by the Emergency Department.
- Outpatient and Ambulatory Services: One support person per patient.
- Labor & Delivery: Two support persons permitted for delivery. After delivery, one support person permitted 24/7. Please use the Entrance by the Emergency Department.
**Exceptions may be made at the discretion of hospital leadership.
Support persons:
Patients with disabilities that may include, but not be limited to, altered mental status, physical, intellectual or cognitive disability, communication barriers or behavioral concerns, who need assistance due to the specifics of their disability, may have one designated support person with them to support their disability related needs. When the period of time of any such patient with disabilities will remain in the hospital longer than one day, such patient or his/her family or caregiver may designate up to two support people, provided only one support person may be present at a time.

What may I expect when visiting?
- When you enter the hospital, you'll be screened for signs of illness — such as fever or symptoms associated with COVID-19.
- Visitors who have symptoms or are ill may not visit, so we can keep patients safe.
- You will need to wear a facemask at all times when in the hospital.
- Please try to bring your own facemask; but if you don't have one, we will provide one for you.
- Please practice physical distancing — maintaining a distance of 6 feet or more between other individuals.
- Please wash your hands frequently; hand sanitizing stations and hand-wash are available.
- During your visit, for your safety, the clinical team may ask you to step out of the room or return later in the day while certain procedures are being performed. We ask that you respect this request.

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital
VISITORS
General visiting hours (Main Campus):
- Inpatient Floors 4,5,6 and ICU: Two visitors per patient, 10 am to 8 pm daily
- Labor & Delivery - Two designated support people allowed during Labor and delivery . Postpartum - two designated visitors during regular visitor hours. See information about Labor & Delivery/Maternity
Visitors not allowed:
- Any visitor under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
- Visitors are currently NOT allowed in the 7th floor Behavioral Health Unit (limited clinical exceptions may be made per the medical provider).
Note the following restrictions:
- Each patient may have two visitors during normal visiting hours.
- When visiting COVID-19 positive patients, two visitors are allowed at one time at discretion of clinical team on Inpatient Floors, ICU, and for scheduled surgeries requiring a stay. Special exceptions for COVID-19 positive patients may be made at the discretion of clinical leadership
- Patients with disabilities who receive care may also have a designated support person present with them to support their disability needs.
- Two escorts may accompany a patient for surgical/procedural, laboratory and blood drawing, radiology services and outpatient physician office visits to the Hospital Building.
- Visitors/escorts must wear facemasks and pass a screening for symptoms.
- If you are sick, please do not visit, and call your doctor.
ENTRANCES

- All visitors are asked to enter the Hospital through the main front entrance daily Noon-8pm.
Winsted Emergency Department

Hartford Hospital
VISITORS
- General Visiting Hours: 10am-8 pm, daily.
- Any visitor under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
- Emergency Department: 1 visitor allowed, based on accommodations.
- Main hospital:
- Two visitors per day for all patients. Daily visit should be brief.
- Two visitors per day for COVID positive patients or patients under suspicion for COVID diagnosis with appropriate personal protective equipment.

- Labor & Delivery/Maternity
- Inpatient Hospital: Visiting hours are 10am-8pm, two visitors per patient per day.
- Outpatient Ambulatory Services: One visitor/escort may wait in appropriate lounge, if space permits. Please check with your hospital team for individualized instructions.

- Oncology Outpatient (infusion, radiation/medical oncology): No visitors.

- All visitors will be screened upon entry for symptoms of illness. Visitors will not be allowed to stay if the health screening shows signs of illness.
- All Visitors will be required to provide proof of a valid government issued ID to enter.
- Visitors are asked NOT to visit the hospital if they are ill or have symptoms of cold or flu.
- Visitors will be required to wear masks at all times while they are in the hospital and maintain social distancing.
- Visitors are asked to be considerate of time spent during visits in semi-private rooms.
- If a patient with a cognitive impairment or disability requires assistance and the hospital cannot otherwise provide, one consistent support person may be permitted to assist in accessing care at all times.
- If nursing staff deems it clinically/psychologically beneficial, one visitor may stay with any patient for support.
- End of Life or Comfort Measures: Personalized care plans can be created with the clinical and support teams regardless of COVID status.
ENTRANCES
CLOSED: Access to the hospital through the Cancer Center is closed. The Cancer Center entrance is for Cancer Center patients only.
OPEN: The following entrances will remain open with screening kiosks for visitors and vendors:
- Main entrance
- Jefferson Building entrance
- Bone & Joint entrance
- Conklin Building entrance
- Donnelly Building entrance
- Emergency Department entrance will remain open 24 hours a day
- Maternity: All maternity patients should use the Emergency Department entrance which is open 24 hours/7 days a week. Take the dedicated Labor & Delivery elevator to the 6th floor. A screening process will take place either in the Emergency Department or when you arrive on the 6th floor.

GUIDELINES:
Two visitors per patient will be allowed for non-COVID/non-isolation patients as deemed appropriate by the Treatment Team. Child/Adolescent visitors are restricted to immediate family members/guardians.
Natchaug Hospital is dedicating to maintaining the safety for patients and visitors at all times. For everyone’s safety, we request only two visitors for each patient at any time. No children under 16 will be permitted onto the unit, unless clinically indicated. Upon entrance to the hospital, you will need to show a driver’s license (or other valid ID) and obtain a visitor’s badge. Visitors are not permitted to bring any personal belongings on units, including purses and cell phones. In the event there is no vehicle to store them in, you will be asked to secure them in the lockers in the lobby.
Some other guidelines:
- All visitors are required to wear a face mask at all times.
- No food or beverages from outside are allowed unless approved by the team for clinical reasons.
- We ask that there is no physical contact during the visit to ensure patient safety.
- Due to storage limitations, only 3 changes of clothing permitted (not including sleepwear) and each patient is limited to one bag of personal belongings.
